Willis Oliver Alford, 82, peacefully passed away August 11, 2020 at Merit Health Wesley, Wesley Hospital, in Hattiesburg, MS. Mr. Alford honorably served his country as an Ammunition Specialist in the Mississippi Army National Guard. He retired as a 1st Class Welder, however, he was well known for peddling fruits, fresh vegetables, and seafood for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and watching football.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice; son, Doyle Ainsworth; mother, Bessie Alford; father, Thomas (Tom) Jefferson Alford; brothers, Walter and John “Buck” Alford; and sister, Mary Ella Brown.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughters, Renea Abrams, Valrie Guy, and Sonja Ainsworth; his sons, Matthew Alford and Eugene Ainsworth; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; and nieces, Danelle West and Ruth Mae Alford.
Visitation for Mr. Alford will be Friday, August 14, 2020 from 10 am until the Funeral Service at 11 am in the chapel at Freeman Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Pisgah UPC Cemetery. Family and friends who cannot attend the funeral service are welcome to join the family at the graveside.
