Marvin Wayne Hicks, 81, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at his residence in the Mt. Pisgah Community. Marvin completed high school at Leakesville High School prior to graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi. He moved to Mobile, AL after marrying Allah and then moved back to Mt. Pisgah. He worked for many years at Ingalls Shipbuilding before retiring in 2002. He was then able to focus on the farm he had built over the years. He loved the land and his cows. Marvin was a member of Leakesville First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a beloved family man who will be missed by his family, friends and community as a man with high integrity who was always willing to lend a helping hand as needed.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Marvin Wayne Hicks II and Jimmy Andy Williams; parents, Morgan and Hilda Hicks; sister, Clara Jean Dearman; and mother-in-law, Annie Belle Taylor.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 57 years, Allah Hicks; children, Tammy Rounsaville, Robert Hicks, and Heath Hicks; brothers, Ralph Hicks (Dorothy) and Clifton Hicks (Donna Kay); sisters, Margaret Hicks Shaw and Peggy Hicks Turner; grandchildren, Zach Rounsaville, Taryn Rounsaville, Drew Hicks, and Trey Hicks; great-grandchildren, Fallon Plash and Kai Rounsaville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A wake will be held on Friday, October 16, 2020 from 5-8 pm at Freeman Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Freeman Funeral Home with Bro.
