Mr. Marion Pierce, 89, passed away at Asbury Hospice on Thursday, June 11, 2020. Born and raised in Greene County, living through many changes in his lifetime. He spent all of his life in Greene County, he worked as a contractor and eventually served on the Greene County Board of Supervisors. He also served his community on various committees including; the hospital board and water board. Mr. Pierce was instrumental in bringing the nursing home back to the Greene County Hospital. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and loved to hunt and fish. He was known for saying, “all you need is a porch, rocking chair, and a kitchen”. He loved living on Big Creek and couldn’t have pulled him out with a pack of mules. But more than anything else he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lollis Walton and Lillie Mae Mason Pierce; brothers, Ralph and Lauvon Pierce.
Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 68 years, Ann Earline Herndon Pierce; children, Julia Ann (James) Walley, Marian (Gerald) Seals, Larry Wayne (Maryori) Pierce, William “Ronnie” (Angela) Pierce, and Charlene (Steve) Roberts; brother, Carlton (Evelyn) Pierce; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A private Funeral Service was held at 12 pm on Saturday, June 13, 2020 with Bro. Paul Walters officiating. Interment was in the Marion Pierce Family Cemetery. Online condolences may be given at www.freemanleakesville.com. Freeman Funeral Home- Leakesville, MS
