Helen Earlene Parnell McGehee, a resident of Leakesville, Mississippi, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg. She was 87 years old. Earlene was born to the late Joe and Nena Parnell on December 18, 1931. She was very devoted to her family and loved to spend all her spare time with them. Earlene drove a school bus for 20 years for Leakesville School District and during her off time she enjoyed tending to her yard and being outdoors. She took pride in her work and never missed a day for any reason. Earlene was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Earlene was preceded in death by her two husbands, Coley McLain and Sheldon Wayne McGehee; parents, Joe and Nena Parnell; and two brothers, Joe Jr. and Jack Arlon. Those left to cherish her memory include her sister, Nena Rae (Stanley) Schult; brothers, James Otis Parnell, Elmer (Kaye) Parnell, and Emmitt (Judy) Parnell; a host of nieces, nephews; great nieces, and great nephews; and other relatives and friends. A wake will be held for Earlene from 6pm until 9pm Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Freeman Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2pm Sunday, June 2, 2019, at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev.
