Etta Cooley, 81, of Leakesville, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Providence Hospital. Living most of her life in Washington County, she spent the remainder of her life in Greene County with the love of her life, Earl Cooley. She enjoyed fishing and attending Bluegrass festivals. More than anything else, she loved to cook, care for, and spend time with her family. She was loved and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Cooley; daughter, Patty Sikes; granddaughter, Taylor Brooke Gunter; great-grandson, Joseph Daughety; brothers, Samuel Lee Singleton and Kenneth Earl Singleton; parents, Bessie and Mack Singleton.
Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Lynn Gunter (Howard) and Janet Todd; siblings, Helen Beverley, Raymond Singleton, Harvey Singleton (Ann), Charles Singleton (Audrey), Stanley Singleton (Shirley), Bobby Singleton (Terry), Judy McIlwain (Robert), Renee Thornton (Kevin), Lou Tomberlin (Joe), and Maxine Guy; grandchildren, Lee Gunter, Benjamin Gunter, Jennifer Mitchell, Hannah Wilkerson, Brandy Todd, Josh Hattenstein, and Davin Mercer; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Funeral Service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home with a visitation prior to the service beginning at 1 pm. Interment will be in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Cemetery with Bro. Marcus Sikes officiating.
