Barbara Ann (McLeod) Parnell of Tupelo, Mississippi, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018. She was born on January 6, 1950, to the late Albert and Hazel McLeod and grew up in Leakesville, Mississippi. In her early career, Barbara was a seamstress in Lucedale, Mississippi, but eventually followed her passion of cooking and graduated from a school of Culinary Arts. She became a chef. She was "the cook". Barbara’s passions were her family, cooking, gardening and reading. She was a beautiful, funny, and loving “Mom”. We will never forget her unconditional love, support, strength, and courage throughout her life. We are eternally grateful to call her mom, grandmother (Nana), sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
She is preceded in death by, her parents; Albert "Monkey" McLeod and Hazel (Fair) McLeod, one sister; Marylin Ruth McLeod, 2 brothers; James (Jimmy) McLeod and Dan McLeod, one nephew; James Paul McLeod, one niece; Desurre Danine Hall and a loving mother-in-law; Lillia (Mutt) Rippy Parnell.
She is survived by her daughter; Shelly Jenee' Parnell and son; John Christopher Parnell, grandchildren; Ashley O'Brien Parnell, Darien Young Parnell, Emily Ann Parnell, Michael Cunningham, and Hayley Cunningham, two great-granddaughters; Lauren Alexis Parnell and Kelsey Jenee' Parnell, five sisters; Doris Jean Clark (Carolle), Angela Landrum (Gilbert), Julia Diane Reno, Sandra Lee Rocko (Jack), and Mary Alice Young (Ronnie), one brother; Donnie McLeod (Margaret) and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10:30 AM with the visitation beginning at 9:30 AM at Freeman Funeral Home in Leakesville, MS with Bro.
