Austin Ellis Pierce, 85, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Sparrow Hills in Lucedale, MS. He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church where he loved to attend as long as he was able. He loved to hunt, fish, and do anything outdoors. He was known for being very independent and loved to fellowship and visit with people. He spent 21 years in the United States Air Force and received a letter of accommodation from President Richard Nixon. While stationed at Lodges Air Force Base in the Azores, he fell in love with Lucia Teixeira, whom he later married. After retiring, he and his wife returned to Leakesville where they spent the remainder of their days. He was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Lucia Pierce; parents, Henry Lewis and Imogene Pierce; sister, Mellonee Steverson; and brothers, Morrison Pierce and Vernon Pierce.
He is survived by his children, Linda Pierce Ramey (Tony) and Steve Austin Pierce; grandchildren, Austin Ramey, Dylan Ramey, Noah Ramey, and Carlee Pierce; brothers, H. L. Pierce (Joe Ann), and Kenneth Pierce (Pam); sisters, Doris Turner, Katherine Jordan, Elenore Robinson, and Angie Peacock; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
