Brian "Yogi" BrelandJune 27, 1959 ~ January 19, 2018 (age 58)
Brian “Yogi” Breland departed this earth on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a longtime member of Buffalo Missionary Baptist Church where he served an active role, teaching Sunday School and serving on various committees. He was employed with Zeon Chemicals in Hattiesburg for thirty years, where he formed lifelong friendships and enjoyed many good laughs. Outside of work, his heart was with his farm, where he enjoyed working beef cattle and taking care of smaller animals with his wife of thirty-two years, Regina. Yogi knew the meaning of hard work, spending countless hours on the family farm he had worked alongside his mother and father since childhood, located on the same land that Brelands had worked for many generations before them. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Dan and Bobbie Lou Breland. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Regina Hembree Breland; his children, CharLee Cook (Alan), April Hinton (Caleb), and Daniel Breland (future daughter-in-law, Kristin); grandchildren, LeeAllyn Cook and Larkyn Cook, and “Baby” Cook; and brother, Bobby Charles Breland (Cathy). He also had many nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 22, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until at Buffalo Missionary Baptist Church in McLain, MS. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the Buffalo Cemetery. Officiating ministers will be Bro. Don Brown, Bro. Ed Steele, and Bro. A.W. Kirkland. Pall bearers include fellow employees from Zeon Chemicals: Randy Breland, Paul Hancock, Charles “Butterbean” McLain, Billy McWilliams, Zane Miller, Shane Napier, Pat Stansell, and Dawson Wilkerson.
